Total Spending on Healthcare in South America

The chart below shows the total spending on healthcare in 2010 according to data compiled by the World Health Organization (WHO). This chart gives you an idea of how much Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela and Chile spend annually on healthcare for their citizens, and the rate of growth during the last five years. As you can see, Brazil dominates healthcare spending in South America, primarily because of its population nearing 200 million people. Per capita spending remains low compared to North America and Europe, but higher than the global average. Brazil will continue to lead in health spending for the next several decades as millions are lifted out of poverty and per capita spending on health continues to rise.
